Normally you cannot make a claim for compensation if you are injured whilst participating in a sports activity. This is because by participating, you are accepting there is a potential risk for injury.
In some instances however you may be able to make a compensation claim for injuries that occur whilst participating in sporting activities.
- If you are being tutored in a sport, your instructor should be properly qualified and trained to teach you safely.
- In contact sports such as Rugby, the other players have a duty to avoid deliberately injuring you, and to not play in a dangerous way that may lead to injury.
- The owner or occupier of the premises where the activity takes place must ensure the grounds and facilities are safe for the people using them.
