Wireless

by Edward Smith

A wireless service provider (WSP) is a company that connects homes and businesses to the Internet using wireless, or radio connection technology, rather than through communication such as DSL or cable. A receiver on the outside of your house sends a signals through to connection points inside, which in turn sends the data to your computer.

WSPs offer residential customers Internet access at speeds from 256 kbps to 2 Mbps, although in future this could rise significantly towards 50 Mbps and onwards. Unlike ADSL and cable, wireless services tend to be symmetric, that is they offer the same upload and download speed.

Although costs tend to vary, prices are comparable to DSL and cable service.
