Dry Eyes

dry eyes

Most people will experience some sort of eye irritation during a long flight. Eye tissue is very fragile, and the low humidity of an aircraft cabin tends to dry it out.

Steps to Take

  • Make sure you have taken any contact lenses out; they'll be very painful to wear if your eyes begin to dry out.
  • Drink plenty of water.
  • Avoid directing the air streams from the overhead ventilator straight at your face.
  • Use lubricating eye drops.
  • Keep your eyes closed for as long as possible, even if you are not asleep.
