Insurable Interest

Insurance requires that the insured has a financial interest in the subject matter in order for it to be valid. A policy where the insured is without such interest is unenforceable. For example, in order to insure a car it would need to be yours or a member of your families. Everyone has an insurable interest in his own life and spouses are deemed to have such an interest in the lives of each other.
