Compulsory Insurance

Where the law stipulates that a person, company or organisation must hold a minimum amount of insurance. In the case of motor insurance, under the Road Traffic Act, a motorist must have insurance cover in respect of liability for bodily injury to or damage to the property of third parties arising out of the use of a motor vehicle on a road. Any employer must hold employers' liability to cover them for at least £5 million.
