Size and Weight

Size and weight can be very important in laptops. In order to have a super small and super lightweight system you might need to sacrifice some features. Small laptops might only have one built in drive (CD/DVD/Floppy/Zip etc.) and if you need any more you will have to buy external drives (which work out more expensive than internal). In terms of the specification, the size of the laptop shouldn't be affected by the size. You shouldn't lose much by way of speed by having a smaller system. If you are going to be buying external drives though, consider the weight - will the extra drives take it over the weight or near the weight of a bigger system with those drives built in?

General Weights Chart
Full Size 6 - 8 lbs
Thin-and-light 4 - 6 lbs
Ultra-portable 2.5 - 4 lbs

Depending on which you go for will affect how many internal drives you have. In general, a full size laptop will have two drives, a thin and light will have one, and an ultra-portable won't have any internal drives, just the hard drive.
