Cost

You will need to look in detail at the costs. Remember that there are many different options open to you. Decide on your top budget - what is the total you are willing to pay for your laptop? Then decide what you need to have, in terms of hardware, software, memory and processor specifications. Concentrate on what you need more than what you'd like.

The main laptop manufacturers have good shopping websites where you can add and take away hardware and software options to end up with what you need. Look at the price of this and whether this is below your price range, then you have the option to either save the money, or add extras. If the figure is over your budget, then it makes it easier to bring it back into range by changing the spec. These sites usually make it easy to see what you can remove or change to bring the price down.

Remember that laptops are expensive, and when compared to desktop PC's, they are really expensive. Buying what you need at the start is cheaper than upgrading later, so make sure you know exactly what you're after. Also investigate what hardware might be released in the near future, as it could be worth holding off until new hardware is available, rather than having to upgrade later.
