If you're simply after a laptop that you can use in college or university so that you can transport it between your accommodation and the campus easily, then you need to consider the following:
- speed/processor (so that it can use any programs you need for your course),
- bundled software (what software comes with it? What do you need for your course?),
- size and weight (you're obviously going to be carrying it around),
- screen size/keyboard/pointer (do you feel comfortable using it?)
- battery life (it might need to run for a whole day of courses).
