New World

Broadly the world of wine is divided into Old World and New. New World is defined as the non-European wine-producing countries that have come to the world's attention since the 1970s. The United States, Australia, New Zealand, Chile, Argentina and South Africa are all New World countries. New World is also an attitude of mind that embraces new technology in the attempt to produce fresher, fruitier wines.
