PLAYSTATION 3 System Configurations

The PLATSTATION 3 is available in two configurations: Basic, which includes a 20 GB internal hard drive, and Premium, which comes with an internal 60 GB 2.5" Serial ATA hard drive, built-in IEEE 802.11b/g Wi-Fi connectivity and multiple flash memory card readers (SD/MultiMedia Card, CompactFlash and Memory Stick). The table below summarises the main features of both consoles.

The hard drive in both systems is upgradeable, using the standard Serial ATA interface.

Although there are no official Wi-Fi or flash memory card adapters released by Sony, plans for such add-ons have been reported. However, wireless networking and flash memory card support may be obtained through the use of 3rd party external USB adapters.

Both systems come with a composite video/stereo audio cable, and official PS3 component cables will soon be available for purchase. PS2 component cables may also be used with the PS3 as both consoles use the same AV Multi Out jack.
