Nokia N-Gage

The Nokia N-Gage was a mobile telephone and handheld game system released on 7 October 2003. Based on the Nokia Series 60 platform, the device was designed to combine mobile phone functionality with gaming capabilities. However, the combination of features did not appear to work well for either function, with the buttons, designed for a phone, not suited for gaming, and phone awkward to hold and use, requiring the user to hold the thin edge of the phone to their ear to talk, with many people commenting that this made the user look like they were speaking into a taco shell.

Due to lacklustre sales, it was announced in 2005 that Nokia would move its N-Gage games capabilities onto a series of smartphones, which will become available in 2007.

You can find out more about the history of the Nokia N-Gage range of phones, including the N-Gage Classic and the update N-Gage QD, along with details about the games that were available for them.
