Nintendo Game Boy Advance SP

In February 2003, Nintendo released the Game Boy Advance SP handheld video game console in Japan, then in North America and Europe the month later. This upgraded version of the Game Boy Advance (SP standing for Special Project) features a clamshell design to protect the screen from dust and scratches, making the unit approximately half the size of the Game Boy Advance when closed.

The new the Game Boy Advance SP soon became very popular, with over 40 million units selling by the end of 2006.
