Sony PlayStation Portable (PSP)

The PlayStation Portable (PSP) is a handheld game console manufactured by Sony Computer Entertainment, released in Japan on December 12, 2004. It was subsequently released in North America on March 24, 2005 and in Europe and Australia on September 1, 2005. This handheld gaming console has a 4.3 inch widescreen LCD display, and is also capable of playing videos, music, browsing the Internet and viewing photographs, making it a portable media player rather than simply a gaming machine.

By the end of 2006, Sony announced that the PSP's worldwide userbase stood at 24.70 million, with 6.23 million sold in Japan, 9.58 million in North America and 8.89 million in the rest of the world.
