The Milton Bradley Company was an American game company established by Milton Bradley in Springfield, Massachusetts in 1860. In addition to developing popular electronic games such as Merlin and Simon, the company also released the first handheld video game console in 1979, known as Microvision, which successfully combined a cartridge-based game system with portability.
Three years later, in 1982, the company released an 8-bit video console, known as the Vectrex. Unfortunately, soon after the console was released, the video game market declined and then crashed, and the Vectrex exited the market in early 1984.
