Franschhoek

The Franschoek valley is a small but significant region, southeast of the Paarl. The hot climate is moderated by a little altitude, and produces a wide variety of wine styles.

There are white wines from Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon and Chenin Blanc and rich reds from Shiraz, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot. The valley is also renowned for Cap Classique Sparkling wines and Ports.
