This cool-climate wine region, on the Whale Coast to the south of Cape Town, is small and new in terms of production, but is starting to produce some very exciting wines from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Bouchard-Finlayson and Hamilton-Russell are using new French oak barrels and very traditional winemaking to make premium wines that are convincingly Burgundian in style.
