The countries of Eastern Europe produce both modern, New World-influenced wines and traditional styles from indigenous grapes. While there's still an awful lot of improvements to be made, most of the Eastern European wines are well made, often providing great value for money, as they're seldom priced above £5. In particular, look for dry white wines from Hungary and Bulgarian reds in this range.
