Earwax is produced by tiny glands (known as ceruminous glands) located in the ear canal. This wax forms a protective coating inside the ear canal, trapping dirt, dust and bacteria and preventing them from entering the inside of the ear. Some people naturally produce more earwax than others, which in time can build up and block the ear passage, causing discomfort and loss of hearing.
In this section you'll find information on the causes and symptoms of earwax blockage, along with advice on how it may be treated.
