The Frozen Daiquiri is said to have been invented by Constantino 'Constante' Ribailagua of La Floridita Bar, Havana, Cuba in the first half of the 20th century. The drink differs from a standard Daiquiri in that it is served with crushed ice and has a squeeze of lime juice added by hand directly into the mixer, which releases a spray of lime oil, adding both flavour and bouquet.
Fruit-based Frozen Daiquiris may be made by blending the standard Daiquiri mix (rum, lime and sugar) with fruit, ice, and a corresponding fruit liqueur, until the mixture has a consistency of sorbet. It should then be served in a Champagne saucer.
