Sangarees

A Sangaree is a cocktail based on the traditional Spanish red wine based drink Sangria (blood drink). However, since their creation in the United States during the nineteenth-century, they have developed to include soda water and sugar syrup, and the red wine may also be substituted by fortified wines, ales or spirits. The ingredients are added to an ice-filled highball glass, and spirit-based versions may then be dusted with nutmeg.
