The Sour cocktail was established in the mid 19th century, and consists of any type of spirit along with a relatively large amount of lemon juice and very little sweetener. The drink is usually served in rocks glass filled with broken ice, along with a twist or spiral of lemon. A little soda water may also be added. Variations include whisky fruit Sours, which include whisky and a fruit flavoured liqueur such as Midori.
