Special features: Modern college, with distinctively informal outlook and expanding facilities. Mixed fellowship, but student places open only to women. Major comtemporary art collection.
Admission: Mostly following interview, conditional offers based on A- and AS-levels or equivalents from other systems; plus STEP for maths. A few EE offers made to particularly strong candidates. Post A-level and mature applications assessed on record and interview. Teaching staff cover all university subjects.
Study abroad: All language students and some law students spend a year abroad as part of course. College promotes exchanges with some universities abroad.
Travel grants: Many small and a few large grants for non-work related travel. Library & information service: Large undergraduate library and computer suite, both with access 24 hours/day. Network access to library and internet from all college rooms. IT support from 2 full-time staff and several student computer officers.
Eating arrangements: Cafeteria system (pay as you eat), formal meals (vegetarian and other diets catered for). some self-catering facilities.
Other college facilities: Music rooms, harpsichord and piano, choral scholarships, drama society, art room, dark room, multi-gym, shared sports grounds and boathouse, gardens, squash/tennis courts, bar, common room, public rooms and lecture rooms with projection cable TV.
Accommodation: College accommodation available for almost all students: rent £39-£71 per week (£54-£89 all inclusive) for 30 weeks. No students live at home.
Term-time work: Virtually impossible for students to take on paid work in term-time. College is sometimes able to help with finding work during vacations.
Financial help: Student support funds for those in serious need, including guaranteed £1000 bursaries for those with maximum fee and loan support.
