Private Vehicles Registered Before 1 March 2001

The table below displays the rate of vehicle tax payable for private vehicles (cars, taxis and light vans) registered before 1 March 2001.

Private Vehicles Registered On or After 1 March 2001

The following tables show the tax rate for cars and taxis registered on or after 1 March 2001, based on carbon dioxide (CO₂) emissions and fuel type. It should be noted that tax band G only applies to vehicles registered on or after 23 March 2006.
