Grapeseed Oil

Grapeseed oil is a light, aromatic oil that is created as a by-product of the winemaking industry. This golden oil is extracted from grape seeds and has a subtle grapey, nutty aroma and taste that does not overpower the flavour of other ingredients. This makes it ideal for dressing salads and a good choice for combining with stronger flavoured, more expensive oils (such as walnut oil), thus making them more economical to use.

Refined grape seed oil has a relatively high smoke point of 215°C (420°C) making it suitable for frying or sautéing. It is low in saturated fat (10%), high in polyunsaturated fat (70%) and contains fairly high levels of vitamin E (29mg/ 100g). As it is best kept at a temperature of less than 20°C (70°F), it is probably better to store it in the fridge over the warm summer months.
