Baguette

Baguette is a French term meaning 'little rod' or 'stick', and is used to describe a long loaf of bread. A standard baguette is 5-6 cm wide, 3-4 cm tall, and up to a meter in length. In France, they are sliced and served with pâté or cheese, served with jam for breakfast, or dunked in bowls of coffee or hot chocolate. Shorter baguettes (known as demi-baguettes or tiers) are often used for sandwiches. Outside of France, baguettes are often known as French bread or French sticks.

More information on baguettes may be found in the French Bread section.
