Bath Bun

Bath buns are a specialty bread that originated in the city of Bath in the 18th century. The bread is made using a brioche or rich egg and butter dough coloured with saffron, baked with dried fruits and currants, with a crushed sugar layer on the bottom. More crushed sugar is sprinkled on top after baking. It is then served as it is, or split into halves to be eaten with butter or jam.
