Cooking Turnips

Baby turnips do not normally need to be peeled; simply wash and trim them before cooking. They may then be boiled, steamed or baked whole until tender.

Older turnips should be peeled and chopped before boiling in salted water for 20-25 minutes or until tender. The pieces may be served as they are, or they may be mashed with butter and cream.
