Warning: pomegranate juice stains, so be careful when preparing them.
- Loosen the flesh by rolling the pomegranate on a hard surface, pressing down with your hand.
- Cut the fruit in half and scoop out the centre with a spoon.
- Place the seeds in a sieve and press with the back of a spoon to extract the juice.
- Alternatively, simply extract the seeds with a pick (avoiding the bitter pith) and eat - either spitting out the pip once you have eaten the juicy surrounding pulp, or crunching the seed and swallowing it.
