What can we do about Climate Change?

According to the latest evidence, 'global warming' could be slowed drastically if emissions of methane and carbon dioxide were reduced. The main artificial sources of these gases are:

  1. for methane - agriculture, emissions from landfill sites and natural gas
  2. for carbon dioxide - the burning of fossil fuels, cutting down and burning trees

Although these reductions may seem to be something that only governments or large organisations can tackle, the individual can also contribute significantly by:

  • Using energy efficient light bulbs
  • Fitting double-glazing
  • Insulating your house effectively
  • Not using a car unnecessarily
  • Buying a more efficient or hybrid car
  • Re-cycling

The benefit is that many of these ideas will also save you money on your electricity bill.
