Kreysigia

Family: Liliaceae

This pink-flowered lily, the only species in the genus, is found in coastal rainforests of north-ern New South Wales and south-eastern Queensland. It makes an attractive pot plant, but is unlikely to be available outside its native Australia.

Species

K. multiflora is a small, suckering plant, producing a number of slender stems from a fibrous-rooted rhizome. It has broad, stemless leaves and fine, long spikes of spring flowers, then capsule-shaped fruit containing yellow seeds.

Cultivation

Grow in a warm, humid greenhouse or conservatory in frost-prone climates. It needs well-drained, soil-based potting compost. Outdoors this plant requires well-drained soil and a warm, humid situation. Propagate from seed, cuttings or by division.

Climate

Subtropical to tropical only.
