Common Name: Drunkard's Dream
This unusual genus of epiphytic cacti is native to Brazil.
Species
H. salicornioides has a bushy habit and grows to around 40 cm (16 in) in height and spread. It has thin, jointed, tube-like stems and the small, yellow, self-sterile flowers are borne at the tips of the stems in late winter to early spring.
Cultivation
Grow in a warm greenhouse or conservatory, in hanging baskets, or mounted on a tree branch. Fill containers with an orchid compost or a cactus compost formulated for epiphytes. Give good light but shade from direct sun, and mist spray daily. In winter, keep the compost only barely moist. Propagate from cuttings in summer.
