Consumer Credit Act (CCA)

The principal legislation that governs the provision of personal loans and other credit agreements. First introduced in 1974, the act protects the consumer by setting out rules and regulations about any credit agreement and the advertising of credit. It also ensures that all businesses offering any kind of credit are licensed by the office of Fair Trading.
