Higher National Diplomas (HND)

A Higher National Diploma (HND) is a vocational higher education qualification offered by higher education institutions and further education colleges. The attainment level is one above that of a Higher National Certificate (HNC) and one below that of a Bachelor's degree. Studied fulltime, an HND normally takes two years.

HNDs usually cover approximately the same area of study as the first two levels of a comparable first degree. Successful completion of an HND can lead to second year entry to a related degree, and in some cases, students may even be granted entry to the third and final level of study.
