If you have family or work commitments, you may not be able to attend college or university full-time. Part time courses are designed to make it possible to study whatever your circumstances are, by allowing you to spread your chosen course over a longer period of time, breaking it down into far more manageable units.
Many institutions will have a special department that caters for part-time study; this will usually be known as 'Centre for Lifelong Learning' or 'Centre for Continuing Education'. They are experts at giving guidance and information on how to choose a course to suit your study aims, and on what courses are available locally. Whilst not all HE courses are available on a part-time basis, a great many are. This is particularly true of postgraduate, vocational and non-degree courses. Check with the course admissions tutor to see what part-time provision is available.
