Qualifications

The higher education qualifications awarded by universities and colleges in England, Wales and Northern Ireland are at five levels; three of which are undergraduate and two are postgraduate. In ascending order, these are:

  • Certificate Level
    Certificates of Higher Education
  • Intermediate Level
    Foundation degrees, ordinary (Bachelor's) degrees, Diplomas of Higher Education and other higher diplomas
  • Honours Level
    Bachelor's degrees with Honours, Graduate Certificates and Graduate Diplomas
  • Masters Level
    Master's degrees, Postgraduate Certificates and Postgraduate Diplomas
  • Doctoral Level
    Doctorates
