A Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) is a voluntary organisation that brings together parents and teachers of pupils, usually for fund-raising and other activities relating to the welfare of the school. Although they do not have any formal powers, they create a good level of communication between parents and the school. PTAs often contribute to the social side of school life by organising fun events for parents, pupils and teachers. If you're interested in joining in, ask your child's teacher about how to get involved.
