Fitting an In-Car Satellite Navigation System

SatNav units are usually fitted into a vehicle in one of the following ways:

  1. By a mounting bracket that has a strong suction cup which sticks to the windscreen.
  2. By a mounting bracket that is fixed to the car's air vents.
  3. By a professionally installed permanent docking kit.
This ensures that the unit is turns on and off automatically with the engine, recharges by the car battery and uses the car's sound system for voice instructions. It may also be possible to switch the day and night views (depending on your model) on and off automatically with the headlights.
When mounting a SatNav system in a car, you must make sure that it doesn't block your view of the road in any way. Try to position it at the lowest possible point on the windscreen.
