• 1000 bytes
  Used to express kilobyte measures for clock speeds or bitrates.
• 1024 bytes
  The most popular usage of the term kilobyte. Used to express memory capacity; also used by most software to express storage capacity. It has been recommended that the term kibibyte (KiB) be used to express this quantity in place of kilobyte to avoid confusion.
