Whilst it is relatively straightforward to handle someone who simply does not want to be in a committed relationship (i.e, decide if you want the same thing, if not, move on), dealing with a commitmentphobe is an entirely different matter.
This type of person usually convinces themselves that they DO want to be in a relationship (or at least in love) and then sets about winning your heart. Once you are hooked and are head over heels in love with them, they then decide that they feel trapped and push you away.
Unfortunately, the commitment-phobe is often scared of ANY type of commitment; they don't want to commit to you, but they don't want to commit to being without you either. So if you decide to leave because they pushed you away, they will then try to woo you back and the cycle begins again.
In this section we take a look at the three stages that a relationship with a commitment-phobe usually follows.
