As well as looking for the signs that someone is attracted to you (or not), you should also keep an eye out for someone who may not telling you the truth; this can make the difference between a happy relationship and heartbreak. Watch out for insincere smiles that don't quite reach the eyes; fake smiles often look exaggerated and remain in place for too long, whereas real smiles will make the eyes crinkle.
The timing and duration of emotional gestures are often slightly out when someone lies; the display of emotion is delayed, stays longer it would naturally, and then stops suddenly. The timing between the gesture and the words associated with it are often also wrong: for example, saying "I'd love to meet up with you again!" and then smiling after making that statement, rather then at the same time the statement is made.
You can also learn to 'see' a lie. Most people will find it very difficult to look someone directly in the eye and lie convincingly. Men tend to rub a closed eye vigorously whilst looking at the floor when they lie, whereas women often massage the skin under the eye and look at the ceiling.
There are also a number of evasion signs you could spot, such as hiding their palms, keeping their hands behind the back or in their pockets - all signals that the truth is being held back.
