Multiple Questions

Interviewers may sometimes ask candidates a question that is divided into two parts. This may be fairly clear and straightforward, such as:

"How do you determine or evaluate success? Give me an example of one of your successful accomplishments".

or it may be badly constructed and confusing:

"What are your responsibilities in your current post and how do you deal with conflict?"

This muddled style of question can cause the applicant to become confused and unsure where to begin. In this case, it is best to acknowledge that the question is in two parts by saying something similar to:

"I will answer the question about my current responsibilities first, and then I will follow this up with details of how I deal with conflict".
