There is a whole branch of astrology ('synastry') devoted to the study of the way people are likely to get on with each other. By comparing different birth charts, an astrologer can establish the kind of people the subject will get on with and the dynamics that will emerge in a particular partnership. They can discover what each party wants from the relationship, how each person perceives the other, and the strengths and weaknesses of that particular pairing.
Astrological sun signs fall into four elements: Earth, Water, Fire and Air. In general, you tend to get along best with those people whose signs are in the same element or in a 'complementary' element. Earth and Water are considered to be complementary elements, as are Fire and Air. In this way, Virgo would be best suited to other signs in the Earth element or to signs in the complementary element: Water.
