The one-to-one interview is possibly one of the most common types of interview, and consists simply of one interviewer talking to one applicant. The interview is often carried out by the department supervisor, but may also be taken by human resources personnel or other staff members.
However, job offers are rarely made on the opinion on one person alone, and so one-to-one interviews are usually held as a series of meetings with key personnel, either held on the same day or over a period of months.
It is important to treat each one of these meetings with the same care and attention, establishing a rapport with the interviewer and maintaining plenty of eye contact. Never assume that the interviewer knows anything that you have discussed with previous interviewer; make sure that you make each one fully aware of all your skills, qualifications and achievements.
