The division of the twelve signs of the zodiac into three groupings called Cardinal (Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn), Fixed (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius) and Mutable (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces). Each group contains one sign from each element, and each of the four member signs share a common mode of expression, having certain characteristics in common.
