A thriving new university with 8 teaching campuses, biggest being Perry Barr. Also Millennium Point, which houses engineering and technology, in the city centre and better known as TIC (Technology Innovation Centre); Westbourne Road in south Birmingham (nursing), Gosta Green (graphics and design), Birmingham Conservatoire (music), Margaret Street (fine arts), Victoria Street (jewellery) and Bournville (arts).
Student villages at Hamsted and Cambrian, and halls of residence (always in high demand) at Perry Barr and Westbourne Road. Some 24,000 students and proud of a diverse population of different cultures, religions and nationalities.
Union of Students represents the views of all students and gives lots of opportunities to get involved: by joining some of the large number of sports clubs and societies; working with representation officer and president on various campaigns: working on one of the media outlets (Spaghetti Junction, the monthly union magazine, SCRatch radio or website www.uceunion.com); or you could work at one of the many bars or shops. You could also join the student council where important democratic decisions are made.
UCE has 6 bars, including recently refurbished Bar 42 and new Moor Lane venue - which also contains new sports complex including 9 football and rugby pitches and facilities for hockey and other sports.
Fantastic range of courses, from law and english to more vocational subjects like graphic design and TV production; most are modular with assessments, often based in coursework and examinations.
