Cranfield University - Student View

It's about a mile out of Cranfield village, just off the Ml motorway and 10 miles from both Bedford and Milton Keynes; buses from both railway and bus stations in both towns (taxis widely available). Free university shuttle service between the campus, MK, railway station, coachway and shopping centre (must be booked in advance). Rural location makes local travel difficult on foot, risky on bike, but OK if you have a car.

On-site facilities include a 24-hour computer centre, award-winning library, gym, sports hall and pitches. Campus has a newsagent and grocers, bookshop, barber, garage and airport. Student accommodation ranges from shared self-catered houses, single full-board rooms, family houses and flats for couples. An entirely postgraduate campus, the average age of students is 27 and majority are male; large proportion of EU and international students, encompassing a broad spectrum of cultures and religions.

Family-friendly university: has pre-school, activity centre, play park and family housing. Most of the academic work is supported directly by industry and there are opportunities for students to make the most of those links.

Cranfield Students' Association (CSA), is the heart of student activities and provides a shop, lounge, bar, dancefloor, meeting rooms, photo-machine and photocopier. Wide variety of clubs and societies, facilitated by the CSA, cater for most tastes. Local area has a variety of sports and leisure centres, swimming pools, nightclubs, restaurants and cinemas. Around Cranfield there are miles of public footpaths and bridleways through open countryside.
