If you stop paying scheduled Child Support Payments, the Child Support Agency (CSA) can collect the payments that are due direct from your employer from your wages or salary.
If they are unable to collect what they are due this way, they may apply to a Magistrates Court for a Liability Order. Once they have this they can:
- Seize money from your bank account,
- Use bailiffs to seize goods and sell them to raise money,
- Get a charge on your property which puts your home at risk,
- Request that the Court sends you to prison.
It is therefore in your best interests to make suitable arrangements to pay the CSA using your financial statement. The current laws and CSA's own systems and procedures often change, so make sure you consult CSA Online, for up-to-date, accurate information.
