Wedding Hair and Make Up Countdown

6 Months Before

Book a consultation session with your hairstylist. This should be at least 30 minutes long, and a time for you to talk about colour, cut and style. Book consultations with different stylists until you find one that you are happy with.

Start looking for a makeup artist if you plan to use one on your wedding day. Again, have as many consultations as you need to find the best match for you.

5 Months Before

If you've decided to do your makeup yourself, book a consultation with a make up artist for a lesson, and to get advice on creating your wedding day look.

4 Months Before

If you want to try anything different with your hair, such as a new style or colour, now's the time to do it. You'll have enough time to get it back to its original look if you're not happy with the changes.

Another good reason for colouring now is so that any make up consultations you may have will take into account your new shading.

3 Months Before

Book your stylist for your wedding day, they tend to be very busy on Saturdays - the day most people plan their wedding.

If you want to have your eyebrows shaped, start now, and have them done on a regular basis once a month.

If you're using a makeup artist, have a make up test run. Make sure your hair is the same colour that you plan to have it on the day, and wear a shirt that's the same colour as your dress. Book the artist for the wedding, if you're happy with the result.

2 Months Before

Book a hair rehearsal with your stylist, bringing in any headpieces you may be wearing on the day.

Remember to get your eyebrows done.

2 Weeks Before

Book an appointment for a final cut and colour. This will give it time to settle and fall into its natural shape before the big day.

1 Week Before

Get your eyebrows shaped for the last time.

On the Day

Give yourself plenty of time to get ready.

If you're the sort to get all teary and emotional, avoid the panda-eyed look by using waterproof mascara. Also, use a pencil, rather than liquid eyeliner, which is likely to run.

Relax, smile, and enjoy your day!

Wash your hair the night before your wedding - freshly washed hair is hard to work with especially if you intend to put it up.
