Same Sex Relationships

Two people who were registered as the same gender at birth may not marry each other.

However, the laws have been recently amended to allow recognition of long term commitment within same sex relationships, conferring certain rights regarding pensions, property tenancies, taxes and more. For more details about the Civil Partnership Act, see our article on same sex partnership ceremonies.
