The Reception

wedding reception

The reception is usually the most expensive part of the wedding day celebrations, and needs to be planned and budgeted for carefully. If your budget is limited, it is better to invite fewer guests and let them enjoy a high-quality reception, than to have more guests and try to stretch your budget by finding the cheapest possible suppliers.

Arrangements need to be made well in advance, and you will need to decide the following things:

  • Where do you want to hold it - A hotel? A hall? At home?
  • Your menu - buffet or formal meal?
  • The drinks - will the venue provide them, or will you supply them yourself?
  • What sort of entertainment will you provide - a band or DJ, or maybe something else?

We take a look in detail at all these points, as well as some others you may need to know about, such as how to arrange the reception line, who sits next to who on the top table, and just how to cut that beautiful wedding cake.

When the big day finally arrives, make sure you relax and take the time to enjoy and appreciate everything you've achieved - it will be a day to remember for the rest of your lives!
